Old Fashioned #3 - Ted’s Bulletin 14th Street
Cherry Old Fashioned is… well… extremely cherry forward and very sweet (and not in a good way)
When?
Weekday dinner. Met some folks for a casual dinner.
What exactly did I order?
It’s right on the menu, Cherry Old Fashioned:
Am I the biggest fan of cherry? Not really. But in an Old Fashioned, I was certainly willing to see what’s what.
Appearance?
Take a look:
Eh. Pretty small rock for that glass, which made the drink get watered down pretty quickly. One cherry and one orange twist were fine, but both were somehow underneath the ice cube
Thoughts?
Maybe for the cherry lovers out there this would get you there, but not me. Way too sugary… which is interesting because if the bartender used demerara as the menu specifies, it takes a lot of it to over-sweeten a drink. I’ve tried at home and it still ends up being pretty balanced. Appearance is nothing to write home about. Overall, very disappointing.
Would I get the Old Fashioned again?
Negative. Not for me.
Is it the best Old Fashioned in DC?
Nope. Laos in Town remains at the top… for now.
